With a rental car from Rodos Cars, we explored a bit of the island. The mountain road on Rhodes wound its way through green valleys, olive trees, and lush vegetation that made it easy to forget the island is mostly known for beaches and tourist life. In the middle of nowhere, an elderly man stood selling honey, olive oil, nuts, and watermelon, like a small, living postcard from the mountains.
A little further on, where the road opened up, the most unexpected thing happened: Five deer came running across a field. They looked at us as they ran, as if we were guests in their world, and I even managed to snap a photo before they disappeared behind the trees.
Back in the car, small villages appeared like hidden pockets of life, with chapels, churches, and people greeting every passerby. The sea shimmered in the distance, and the whole trip became one of those experiences that settles into your body and stays with you forever.
