During my holiday in Rhodes, I rented a car from RhoRent Rent a Car, and I have to say — it was one of the easiest and most pleasant car hire experiences I’ve ever had. The car was brand new, the service was friendly, and they even gave me a Mini Travel Guide with tips for exploring the island.
One tip in particular completely changed my plans — Free Parking in Rhodes Town.
When I first mentioned to our tour leader that I wanted to drive into Rhodes Town, she tried to discourage me, saying parking would be almost impossible. She suggested taking a local bus, a taxi, or joining an organized excursion instead. But the more I looked into those options, the less they appealed to me.
So, we decided to try RhoRent’s tip — and it was amazing!
We booked a car online at www.rhorent.com for a day. Using the directions in their Mini Travel Guide, we drove straight to Acandia Free Parking, right by the harbor. It was just a short walk from the Old Town, and parking was completely free. Even better — for those who don’t want to take the short walk, there’s a free shuttle bus running every 5 minutes that takes you directly to the Old Town and back.
We spent the day exploring the Old Town at our own pace — shopping for souvenirs, enjoying a delicious traditional lunch at Mama Sofia Restaurant (highly recommended!), and later even heading for a refreshing swim at the beautiful Anthony Quinn Bay.
That one day convinced us — we extended the rental for the whole week. With the car, we explored the island freely, visiting stunning beaches, hidden bays, and cultural sites, all with minimal expenses and maximum flexibility.
If you’re visiting Rhodes and want to see the Old Town without the stress, follow this tip: Rent a car, head to Acandia Free Parking, and enjoy Rhodes your way!
